UPDATE JUNE, 2010
In order to focus my time, energy and money on my real passion, Calico Cochins, I have decided to sell all of my Mille Fleur Cochins. I need the room and trying to keep two breeding projects going at the same time has proven to be too much for me. Therefore, all of the beautiful birds shown below are for sale! This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to get a great start to breeding for Mille Fleur Bantam Cochins!

I started raising Mille Fleur bantam Cochins in the Fall of 2009. I purchased started pairs and trios from some of the top breeders all over the United States. I was very fortunate to acquire this gorgeous rooster, "Trouble" from Mike Vogan!. Out of the five roosters that I started with, I chose Trouble to be the foundation sire for my Flock.
Trouble is the sire of the first generation of Mille Fleur Cochins born in the Bluff Country and also of some of my Calico Cochins! Trouble has nice type and excellent MF coloring with awesome tri-color mottling on his chest and wings. He is producing some outstanding chicks for me when bred to a variety of MF hens.
Trouble is SOLD
Baby "Jewel" :
Gem and Jewel were bred by Ione (Amazondoc on BYC), of Tennessee
The Golden Girls (from Lynne, in CA)
Beautiful "Blanche" :
Dorothy is SOLD
and of course, little "Sophia":
I was lucky to find and be able to purchase some really lovely pullets for my foundation flock. They all show very nice type. They are young in the above photos and their colors and patterns have developed nicely (as have their cushions!) as they've matured. I did notice that almost all of the pullets that I was able to find were lacking the black chevrons required for the Mille Fleur pattern to one degree or another. It was for that reason that I chose Trouble to be my foundation rooster!
Rose & Trouble in the Fall of 2009
He's adding lots of black chevrons to chicks that he sires.
Of course, not ALL of the hens need more black!
The above beauty is "Java", from Josh Singleton, in Utah.
She is exquisite! I'm hoping that Trouble will add some mahogany to her offspring. If not, she'll be very useful in my Calico breeding project!
That's it! You've met my foundation flock for my Mille Fleur Cochin project. They are producing hundreds of eggs ~ most of which I am hatching out. I will select a few from each generation to add to my breeding flock to further my progress toward producing show quality, mille fleur Cochins that breed true, in hopes that one day soon, the variety will be recognized the the ABA and APA.
I almost forgot to tell you about my "Flock Improvement Group"!
I have a pen of show quality bantam cochin hens that I am crossing with my Calico and MF roosters. Their chicks will then be bred back to a Calico or MF rooster to further improve the type in both of my project flocks. I'll make up a photo album to show you the incredibly beautiful hens that make up my Flock Improvement group...
I will be selling hatching eggs as well as started pairs and trios in the summer of 2010.
